Who Are The Trainers...

Gregory Conti is an assistant professor at Ferris State University in Big Rapids, Michigan, where he teaches both the Introductory and Advanced Injection Molding courses as well as a class on the Physical Properties of Plastic Materials.  He received an AAS in Plastics Technology, a BS in Plastics Engineering Technology, and a BS in Applied Mathematics from Ferris State University. His work experience comes from ITT Baylock and Keeler Brass.  He has taught plastics processing at Ferris State since 1987 and has conducted training for companies such as: Delphi, United Technologies Automotive (now Lear Corp.), Venture Industries, Donnelly Corporation, Union Tools (now Ames), Soo Plastics

 Stephen Wolfer is an associate professor at Ferris State University in Big Rapids, Michigan, where he teaches Introductory and Advanced Injection Molding.  He has also written Injection Molding Set-Up Manual and Manual Para Moldeadores De Plastico Por Inyeccion.  He received his BS and MS degrees in Plastics from Pittsburg State University, Pittsburg, Kansas.  His work experience comes from Rubbermaid, Square D Company, and General Dynamics.  He has taught plastics processing at Ferris State since 1992 and has conducted training for companies such as: Summit Polymers, United Technologies Automotive (now Lear Corp.), Union Tools (now Ames), Soo Plastics, Lexamar Corporation

What's so special about the Ferris State University plastics programs?

Ferris State University is a moderate sized state university with an average enrollment of 10,000 students.  It is located in Big Rapids, a small town in Northern Michigan.  "Learning by doing" was one of the major principles upon which Ferris was founded in 1886.  That principle is still very much alive today at Ferris State, especially in its College of Technology's Plastics Programs.  The Plastics Programs at Ferris State began in 1968.  Over the years it evolved from a 1-year certificate program into a 2-year AAS (1970) and a 4-year BS(1982) degreed program.  And in keeping with the Ferris "Learning By Doing" philosophy, all plastics courses taught at Ferris incorporate a "hands on" lab component.  Today, with well over 1000 plastics graduates out in the industry, Ferris State is a well known and respected name in the Plastics Industry.  This uncompromising commitment to "Learning By Doing" is also incorporated in all of the Guiness Technologies, Inc. training courses as well.
