John Guza
Apr 1856 - Dec 8, 1925

In 1882 both John and Leon were married. John wed Catherine (Ginter) and Leon was married to Frances (Wrobel). Both boys moved to Chicago, living in the same house. Later they had places of their own, but continued to live close to each other.

John and Catherine Guza raised their family in Niles 111. not far from Chicago. He was a candy maker. They had three sons. Stanley born Sept.1882, Bernard born April 1885, and John born Sept. 1888. Son John worked as a Chicago fireman.

John later moved to Michigan and eventually bought a forty acre farm next to his sister Frances and her husband Martin Dropiewski. He died and was buried there. Two years later his body was exhumed for reburial in Chicago. The undertaker asked the family if anyone wished to see him. Some did. His face was cleaned of mud with a stick and was in perfect condition, showing no signs of decay.
John Guza's wedding certificate it gives his place of birth as Taszewo, Poland. Aunt Agnes (Kubacki) Fulford related to me this was a wealthy section of the country. They all spoke, what was commonly called high Polish. This leads us to believe they came from a large city and had a formal education or perhaps a private tutor. This was not typical of most immigrants.
