Leon Guza
Apr 11, 1861 - Nov 13, 1929

In 1882 both John and Leon were married. John wed Catherine (Ginter) and Leon was married to Frances (Wrobel). Both boys moved to Chicago, living in the same house. Later they had places of their own, but continued to live close to each other.

Leon left Chicago about 1900. They may have moved to Lansing, Mi. to be close to Frances' father. He worked for the state. About 1904 they moved to Huron County. Leon played the concertina in theaters in the Chicago area and was in great demand for weddings and parties around Parisville. They often had parties in the log cabin behind their house. Dennis' Aunt Rose remembers going to the parties as a young girl.

Once Leon gave Frances two hundred dollars to put away, so she hid it in the stove The next day she lit the fire in the stove and didn't remember the money until it was too late. By 1900 they had six children , and had lost their first two Fabian and Edmund. The family first rented a farm on Verona Rd. Then bought eighty acres with a log cabin on it. The cabin had a problem with sod bugs. They built a home that still stands and is the home of Cletus and Shirley Guza and family.
Jan Guza had a life lease on his forty acres, and deeded it to Leon on the condition he would live there for the rest of his life. Reportedly Leon, Frances and Jan found the arrangement unsatisfactory. Jan moved out of the farmhouse and went to live with his youngest daughter Frances and her husband Martin Dropiewski, until his death April 9,1898. He is buried in St. Mary's cemetery Parisville Mi. Although he was often called John, his headstone reads 'Jan Guza'.
