John and Catherine had, as you know fourteen children. His son John, and his family always believed he was first born. The family was very upset to learn about Leo, the first born who was killed in the great fire of 1881. I inadvertently stirred up a hornets nest. After showing them census records, they came to accept the facts and settled down.
