This is another of my favorites of my mom. It was taken at Christmas, 1988. - Theresa

There was the time after Hil began dating Jane, we all went to the beach AT NIGHT. The boys went smelt dipping off a dock or in the water wearing waders...Jane and I built a huge bon fire on the beach, listened to music on the radio and had lunch ready for the boys when they finished catching pails and pails of those small fish. We enjoyed the evening but not the fish!
Dating reminded us of weddings...First...of our wedding Hilary was Georges best man and truly he lived up to that name...It seems that some of our friends were planning to steal our borrowed honey moon car and HIDE it. Hilary got wind of their plan and took the car and hid it FIRST. When we were ready to leave He delivered the car to us safe and sound!

Jane and Hilary planned to spend their honeymoon night in their own home. Hilary owned a car and the house on Bringard before they married...But I digress...When his buddies found out that was the end of their peaceful night...they drove around the house honking their horns and flashing their lights into the window!!!

Jane didn't speak about her child hood very much. Some times some thing would remind her of the past. Like the time I bought a large metal pitcher for picnics. Jane said it reminded her of the ones they had at the orphanage. She mentioned helping the younger children to dress or feed them, she enjoyed that.

We didn't speak of her mom much. Jane would visit her but as time passed her mom only recalled her as some one who visited her, not recalling Jane was her

daughter. When Jane's mom passed away there was a terrible storm. A tornado tore the front door off the funeral home. Jane was devastated.

I remember a happier time...Jane, Hilary and maybe Marie went on vacation, we had the pleasure of taking care of baby Barbara. I am her Godmother, so I got the honor. She was just one more of the children and wasn't a bit of trouble.

It was Jane who encouraged me to apply for a job at Powell studio. I loved to paint and always did it for my own enjoyment as a hobby. She said "How would you like to get paid for doing some thing you like???" Not a bad idea! We went down town together. She introduced me to all the people and before I knew it I had a job! One thing lead to another...

Jane and I loved the three day painting seminars at the Pathlyn Hotel. We had for Powel Studios. Jane and I would attend all the work shops, learned a lot and had a great time. The boys went with us but visited the many bars in the hotel, each a different motif. By evening Jane and I were ready for a nice dinner, ready to relax, and stay put. The boys were ready for a big time.

My mom and her sister, Loretta, both had birthdays in December. When they lived in the orphanage, birthdays were celebrated as a group for all of the children born that month. My mom always liked to celebrate her birthday with her sister. One year, my aunt Loretta got a football for her birthday as the orphanage always gave them whatever toys had been donated for birthday presents. - Theresa
